Each year the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society recognizes one graduating senior in each of the academic colleges with the Maurice A. Clay Award.  Gage was awarded this honor for the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment for 2025.

The University of Kentucky Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society established the Maurice A. Clay Awards over 30 years ago to honor Dr. Maurice A. Clay who was an educator and professor at the University of Kentucky for more than 60 years.  "He was the epitome of service leadership, while assuming little recognition for himself".

Gage was chosen by the college's Dean or Dean's representative because he is an exceptional leader who has provided service to the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment while maintaining a strong academic record. Omicron Delta Kappa recognizes superior scholarship, leadership, and exemplary character.  The Clay Awards are one with in which our National Leadership Society can bestow on graduating seniors a "Mark of High Distinction."
