Our CLD Graduate Student, along with CLD, Dr. Lola Adedokun, were recognized with the Outstanding Project Award at the spring meeting of the Kentucky Association of State Extension Professors for their work in the PROFIT (Promoting Recovering Online Through Financial Instruction and Addiction Training) project.

Co-recipients on the award were: Nichole Huff, Alex Elswick, Kelly May, Leslie Workman, and Lola Adedokun.

PROFIT is an asynchronous training developed by Kentucky Cooperative Extension specialists designed to improve the professional capacity of practitioners (e.g., Extension educators, mental and medical healthcare providers), especially related to intersecting factors that mitigate substance use disorder recurrence. PROFIT places emphasis on the impact of financial stress on recovery capital, or biopsychosocial resources that support substance use recovery. PROFIT leverages research-based Extension education to address the growing overdose epidemic in and beyond Kentucky. Specifically, it aims to equip Extension and community-based professionals to better promote financial recovery capital in audiences impacted by substance use.

Kelly is a current graduate student in our Community and Leadership Development Masters program and will be defending her thesis and graduating this spring.
