Professional Profile
As a Senior Lecturer my priority is my students. I teach two sections each semester of GEN100: Issues in Agriculture, Food, and Environment, and thoroughly enjoy how each class develops its own personality. Our College has such an amazing wealth of resources – from the greenhouses to the meat lab; I am grateful to be able to share these assets with my GEN100 students as we work through the important implications of our agri-food system, community structures, natural resources, and the way these impact our daily lives. I also regularly teach CLD/SOC 380: Globalization and CLD/SOC 102: Rural Social Change. I have also taught courses on food systems and the global implications of eating, the Syrian refugee crisis, public protests from 1999 to the Arab Spring, and more. More broadly, I have worked on various methods of integrating social, economic, and environmental Sustainability into pedagogy at UK.
